One of the three skiing areas around Lake Achensee is the one of the Karwendel Bergbahnen in Pertisau, which offers stunning views

Mt. Zwölferkopf is accessible by the Karwendel Cable Car from the edge of Pertisau, just a short way from the western bank of Lake Achensee. The Zwölferkopf Lift, the Grat Lift and the Joch Lift take you even higher. Up there, on this 1,491 m high peak of the Karwendel Mountains, the Zwölferkopf Skiing Area awaits you with 6 km of easy slopes and 6 km of medium difficult slopes.
The location is fantastic: sparkling Lake Achensee in the valley, and a deeply snowy landscape with sunny slopes up on the mountain. Especially the flat plains of the Wiesen and Planberg Ski Lifts are perfectly suitable for beginners: They require, however, a corresponding ticket. Also little guests get their money's worth - the Pertisau Ski School offers BOBO's Kids Club with BOBO, the penguin.
Popular slopes are the wide Zwölferkopf downhill run towards the Tristenautal valley and the Hubertus Slope, which enables a gorgeous view on Lake Achensee. New, however, is the ski depot with heated ski boot depot at the valley station. If you want some welcome change from the skis or the snowboard, you may enjoy the beautiful Zwölferkopfstrasse, a winter hiking path leading down into the valley. Ideal for families are the Alpine Animals Circular Walk on top of Mt. Zwölferkopf which follows the path no. 4, and the almost 5 km long natural toboggan run Zwölferkopf.
