The Tyrolean Zugspitz Arena unites six ski areas around the Zugspitzplatt, Germany's highest peak, and the northernmost glacier in the Alps. These areas include Berwang, Bichlbach, the Ehrwalder Alm in Ehrwald, the Grubigstein in Lermoos, Heiterwang am See, Biberwier, and the Zugspitze itself. More accurately, there are seven areas because Berwang and Bichlbach have joined to form the Berwang-Bichlbach Ski Arena. The Zugspitzplatt, actually called Schneeferner, is located on the 2,962-metre-high Zugspitze. A total of 143 kilometres of slopes await you, 106 kilometres of which are covered by snowmaking, and 57 modern lifts that transport you up to 3,000 metres.
Up there, you can enjoy the glacial sunshine and the Zugspitz Adventure Museum. Besides offerings for skiers and snowboarders, families and racers, carvers and other winter sports enthusiasts, some highlights stand out: the Ehrwalder Alm Family Park, the three family runs on the Grubigstein, the Biberwier Kinderland with "Biber's Buzzebahn", the freeride route on the Wetterstein, and the deep-snow slopes in Berwang and Bichlbach.
From Ehrwald, the Tyrolean Zugspitze Cable Car takes you up to the Zugspitze. Built in 1926, it was Tyrol's first cable car - today, it's a state-of-the-art facility. Night skiing and night tobogganing are also particularly popular. You can find one of the region's two night slopes in the Berwang-Bichlbach Ski Arena. Various snow parks and fun parks are spread across all seven skiing areas. Together with the Bavarian ski resorts of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Grainau, and Mittenwald, the region forms a large interconnected skiing area. The Top Snow Card grants access to all slopes.
