The 3 Länder Freizeit-Arena (3 Country Leisure Arena), formerly known as Schneewinkel, encompasses eight ski resorts across North Tyrol, Salzburg, and Bavaria. Five of these are located in Tyrol: the Steinplatte in the Kitzbühel Alps, which is connected to the Winklmoosalm pasture in Bavaria, the Buchensteinwand Skiing Area operated by the Bergbahn Pillersee lift facilities, the St. Johann in Tirol Skiing Area, the Lärchenhof Ski Lifts in Erpfendorf, and Yappi's Winter World in Kirchdorf in Tirol with its imperial views and winter playground. Adding to these are two Salzburg resorts, the Almenwelt Lofer and Heutal, as well as Bavaria's Winklmoosalm.
With just one ski pass, you can access 171 kilometres of pistes and 61 lifts in the heart of the Kitzbühel Alps. The facilities are impressive: A large proportion of the slopes have snowmaking capabilities, fed by eight reservoirs. More than 30 mountain huts offer a welcoming stop for refreshments and regional specialities. The ski network also boasts dedicated children's areas, such as the Triassi Kinderland in Waidring and Valle's Ski School with its snowman mascot, Valle, in St. Johann in Tirol. Ten ski schools and several snow parks, including the Snowpark St. Johann in Tirol and the Snowpark Steinplatte, complete the offering.
The smaller areas Lärchenhof and Kirchdorf are particularly suitable for children and beginners. Ski tourers are also well-catered for, for example in the Ski Tour World Buchensteinwand. In summer, the regions transform into popular hiking areas dotted with charming alpine pastures.
