Steinplatte Skiing Area - PillerseeTal

Winter fun in the Tyrol-Salzburg-Bavaria border triangle, high above Waidring

High above Waidring rises Mt. Steinplatte. Its skiing area, situated on a sunny plateau in the Kitzbühel Alps, offers 42 kilometres of pistes and three kilometres of ski routes. You can reach it from the village centre of Waidring via the 15-person gondola lift, or from the Winklmoos Pasture on the Bavarian side - Munich is only an hour's drive away. Wide pistes attract carvers, while freeriders will prefer the deep-snow slopes of the Schwarzlofer Pasture. Snowboarders are familiar with the 1.5-kilometre-long Steinplatte Snow Park. It combines the best elements of boardercross and snowpark, complemented by a funslope, and offers three sections with four difficulty levels.

Tyrolean and Bavarian specialities await you in the ski huts, from Kasspatzln - prepared with mountain cheese and fried onions - to a hearty Tyrolean Gröstl, which is a bacon, meat, onion and potato fry-up. Children can choose between the Triassic Kinderland at the ski school area and the Hausberg Arena in the centre of Waidring. The Triassic Parc Steinplatte is an adventure park open year-round, boasting the highest-altitude sandy beach in the Alps during the summer.

Childcare (half-day and full-day) is also available there. Just a ten-minute walk from the mountain station, you'll find two viewing platforms: The first impresses with its unique fan-shaped coral form, while the second is a new, accessible larch wood construction. Both offer breathtaking views of the Kitzbühel Alps. With one ski pass, you can use both the Austrian Steinplatte and the German Winklmoosalm Skiing Area. The Steinplatte is also one of the eight ski resorts of the 3 Country Leisure Arena, and a member of the Snowcard Tyrol and SuperSkiCard network.
