The Thurntaler, the local mountain of the Hochpustertal valley in the High Tauern, attracts visitors with its perfectly groomed slopes and varied ski tours. 22.4 kilometres of pistes await you, including the 1,300-metre vertical descent from the ridge "Kammabfahrt" - it represents the area's longest run. The lifts start on the outskirts of Sillian and are easily accessible by ski bus.
The valley runs lead down to Sillian and into the Villgratental valley. If you'd like to improve your technique, the Hochpustertal Ski School is there to help. A special highlight is the Sillian Snow Park at 2,200 metres above sea level, Austria's southernmost snowpark with its own snowmaking facilities. Here you'll find a wave run, ski cross track, snail and tunnel, easy kickers, and various obstacles. Younger guests are also catered for: In the Kinderland with mascot Bobo the Penguin and childcare, there's a dedicated practice area. Children up to six years old travel free when accompanied by their parents, and a child tariff applies up to 18 years old.
Away from the pistes, the Leckfeldalm toboggan run on the opposite side of the valley beckons. The well-known Pustertal cross-country ski trail Sillian-Lienz completes the winter offerings in this East Tyrolean town. Sillian is part of the SKI)HIT Carinthia East Tyrol network, which also includes the Lienz, St. Jakob im Defereggental, and Grossglockner Resort Kals-Matrei skiing areas.
