Muttereralm Skiing Area - Innsbruck

Experience the Götzner downhill run: thrilling skiing near Innsbruck on one of Austria’s most beautiful woodland descents

At the entrance to the Stubaital valley lies the Muttereralm alpine pasture, a popular hiking area that transforms into a small, family-friendly ski resort in winter. The Muttereralm Cable Car, originally from the 1950s, has been modernised, and the ski resort celebrated its reopening in 2006. You can reach it either with the Muttereralm Cable Car from Mutters or with the Nockspitz Cable Car from Götzens. At the base station in Mutters, the ZuMutBar invites you in for a relaxing break. A free ski bus takes you from Innsbruck to the Muttereralm Skiing Area.

The ski season kicks off with two events: the Mutters Opening and, a few days later, the Student Ski Opening. 16.5 kilometres of pistes await, most of them easy or intermediate. Two easy family runs, the FIS Muttereralm downhill run, the Pfriemesköpfl slalom racing slope and the Götzner Run - one of Austria's most beautiful tree-lined runs - provide varied skiing enjoyment. The Götzner Run was originally created as a reserve slope for the Innsbruck Winter Olympics. For experts, there's a black-rated racing slope. The entire skiing area benefits from 100% snowmaking coverage.

The Muttereralm Park, which attracts visitors in summer with its MTB trails and mountain carts, transforms in winter into a children's area with a fairytale forest. For snowboarders, the Götzens Snow Park, with Monster Energy as its official partner and its own DIY section, awaits. Three toboggan runs and Snooc, a combination of tobogganing and skiing, complete the offering. At certain times, the slopes are open to ski tourers. The area has been certified as a "Tyrolean Family Ski Region" since 2024 and has also been awarded the Tyrolean Toboggan Run Seal.
