One of the most traditional skiing areas with one of the first ski lifts in Tyrol can be found on Mt. Kellerjoch near Schwaz

On the sunny Kellerjoch, the 2,344 m high local mountain of Schwaz in the Tux Alps, there's a small skiing area which provides a great view on the southern part of the Tux Alps and the Karwendel Mountains in the north. The Kellerjoch Cable Car and the Grafenast Ski Lift start on the Pillberg hill above Schwaz and take you up to 1,887 m a.s.l. where the well-groomed ski slopes start. With its own family downhill run and the Grafenast Kids' Park, Mt. Kellerjoch is very family-friendly.
For some action, there are the Waizer Slope and the Sports Slope. Also the toboggan run, which is divided into different sections, is part of the Kellerjoch Skiing Area: One of them leads from the Hecherhaus at the mountain station to the Grafenast parking space, another one takes you down the valley to Freundsberg Castle in the town of Schwaz. It represents North Tyrol's longest and Austria's second longest natural toboggan run. The starting point is easily accessible by cable car.
Once a week, Mt. Kellerjoch becomes the meeting point for skitourers. There are also a few single ski lifts in the Silver Region Karwendel: the Burg Lift Stans with its HOTZONE.TV Snow Park, the Hofer Lift on the Kolsassberg hill, the Hüttegg Lift Weerberg which features a children's area, and the Schwanner Lift near the eponymous mountain inn, also located in Weerberg.
