The Kaunertal Glacier (Kaunertaler Gletscher) and the Fendels Winter Mountain form a diverse ski resort in Austria. "Tyrol's youngest glacier", together with Fendels at the entrance to the Kaunertal valley, opens up an area with 70 kilometres of pistes. The glacier kicks off the winter season as early as autumn. Surrounded by 30 three-thousand-metre peaks, you can reach the Kaunertal Glacier from Feichten via the 26-kilometre-long Kaunertal Glacier Road. With a valid ski pass, the road is toll-free. The lifts to the Fendels ski area start directly in the village of Fendels.
The Kaunertal Glacier attracts visitors with wide natural snow pistes and attractive freeride routes. Snowboarders appreciate the Kaunertal Snow Park, while adventurous skiers will love the Black Ibex, considered Europe's steepest piste with an 87.85% gradient. Events like the Snowboard Spring Classics have long since achieved cult status. The Weissseejoch Cable Car recently joined the eight existing lifts on the glacier. Night skiing and tobogganing, a ski touring park, and the Fendels Snow Park, however, await you at the Fendels Winter Mountain. The manageable ski area, featuring the BIBI Kinderland, is particularly suitable for families.
The fully accessible Kaunertal Glacier - Fendels Ski Resort has been awarded the EDEN Award. Wi-Fi in the mountain restaurants, the ski bus, and tickets for children up to eight years old (excluding processing fees) are free of charge. The Drei-Länderblick (Three-Countries-View) platform at the Karlesjoch, at an altitude of 3,108 metres, offers a truly special experience.
