Long descents and traditional huts near Innsbruck: Kick off the season at the Glungezer Ski Opening

The 2,677-metre-high Glungezer in the Tux Alps towers just a few kilometres from Innsbruck. From Tulfes, the Glungezer Cable Car, with ski storage at the valley station, takes you directly to the sunny ski resort, boasting 23 kilometres of pistes and panoramic views. Getting there and back is easy: A free ski bus runs between Innsbruck, Hall in Tirol, and the ski resort. At the summit, an unforgettable view of the Inntal valley and the Nordkette mountain range awaits.
The ski resort traditionally celebrates the start of the season at 1,560 metres with the Ski Opening at the Alpengasthof Halsmarter, right by the Glungezerbahn's middle station. DJ music sets the mood in December. Ski touring and tobogganing evenings also take place at the Halsmarter. The skiing area scores points with its natural charm and one of the longest descents in Tyrol - over 15 kilometres of pure skiing pleasure! The new snowmaking system ensures reliable snow conditions.
But the Glungezer isn't just for skiers. Tobogganists can whiz down the 3.7-kilometre-long Panorama Toboggan Run. At Zwugl's Tobogganing School on the Glungezer, trained guides teach you safe and technically correct tobogganing once a week. Winter hikers, on the other hand, can enjoy the snowy landscape on two wonderful trails near the middle and top stations. As in 11 other ski resorts, the SKI plus CITY Pass Stubai Innsbruck is valid here.
