Buchensteinwand Skiing Area - PillerseeTal

Mt. Buchensteinwand, affectionately known as "Buach" by locals, houses a small but perfectly formed ski resort, spread across St. Ulrich am Pillersee, St. Jakob in Haus and Hochfilzen. The valley station is easily reached by ski bus, and from there, the lifts of the Bergbahn Pillersee whisk you up to the summit. At 1,456 metres, you'll be greeted not only by breathtaking panoramic views extending as far as the Grossglockner, but also by the Jakobskreuz, the world's largest accessible summit cross, featuring five platforms. From here, 21 kilometres of slopes, several ski routes, and diverse deep-snow slopes meander down to the three villages.

Test your speed on the race track or practise on the training slope of downhill professional Romed Baumann. Afterwards, relax in one of the cosy huts on the sunny slopes towards Hochfilzen. For those seeking a more adventurous experience, there's a marked, controlled, and avalanche-safe natural snow descent - ungroomed, yet all the more authentic. The drag lift at the valley station allows beginners to make their first tentative turns. There's also the Pletzi Park, with its obstacles and wave run, and, of course, with Pletzi, the friendly bear mascot.

Ski tourers will find ideal conditions in the Buchensteinwand Ski Touring World. The Buchensteinwand Skiing Area is part of the extensive 3-Country Leisure Arena ski network. This encompasses eight ski resorts in the three-country corner of Tyrol-Salzburg-Bavaria. A 3-day ski pass or longer grants you access to all areas within the 3-Country Leisure Arena. Your daily performance can be precisely analysed with the Skiline altitude chart and the iSki Tracker.
