Hippach is a small locality in the rear Zillertal valley and forms, together with the neighbouring Mayrhofen, the Mayrhofen holiday area which stretches around the Leisure Mountain Ahorn and the Action Mountain Penken. The municipal area - which includes the two localities of Hippach-Schwendberg and Laimach - extends up to impressive 2,762 m a.s.l.
Surrounded by the Zillertal Alps, Tux Alps and Kitzbühel Alps, this place is ideal for those who love to spend active holidays: A great summer experience is to expore the landscape on two wheels, or to walk across the Nature Park Zillertal Alps on foot. The natural monuments include the Talbach Waterfall, accessible via a steep stairway, as well as the Laimach Waterfall further south. In the warm months, in the village itself you find the Summer World Hippach, a sports and leisure centre with swimming pool and one of the largest beach volleyball facilities in Tyrol.
Something very special is the Strasser House of the singer family Strasser, who took the famous Christmas song "Silent Night, Holy Night" out into the wider world. The small wooden building in Laimach dates back to 1714 AD and was restored some years ago affectionately. Today, it houses a museum which is managed by the municipality of Hippach. In winter, Hippach invites you to ski in the Mayrhofen Skiing Area and to a sledge ride on the Brindlingalm and Rastkogelhütte runs.
