The German name of Schwendt, one of the four villages of the Kaiserwinkl holiday area, derives from "schwenden", that's to say clearing. In the village centre rises the steeple of the St. Giles Church. Here you can literally take off: In the nearby Kössen there's the hang-gliding and paragliding school "Fly Kössen" which shows you the region in a tandem flight from above...
One of the most popular destinations in summer is Lake Walchsee and its bathing beaches as well as the possibility to surf and sail. However, the holiday area is also known among golf players and horseriders, tennis players and paragliders. Three golf courses can be found in the surroundings, including the one in Kössen and the Moarhof Golf Club in Walchsee.
In winter, Lake Walchsee transforms into an ice skating paradise, also offering a winter walking path and a cross-country ski trail that surround the lake. The trails of the area have been awarded the cross-country ski quality seal by the State of Tyrol. The lift facilities, however, take you to Mt. Zahmer Kaiser and Mt. Unterberg, to the Hochkössen Skiing Area. In addition, the stunning 288 km of slopes of the SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser - Brixental are accessible from the Brixental valley.
