Only 4 km from Lienz there is Nussdorf-Debant, the municipality consisting of the component locality Nussdorf at the foot of the Nussdorfer Berg mountain and the settlement of Debant. 2 km away, however, you can find the excavation site of the Roman settlement "Municipium Claudium Aguntum" with its museum. The atrium building is unique in the Alpine area.
The Nussdorfer Berg Trail starts at the Toni Egger Park and takes you across old forest roads and meadows to the "Bergermoar" farm and up to the highest farms of the Nussdorfer Berg. However, if you prefer pedaling, you can cycle along the 28 km long Debanttal Trail. It proceeds from Lienz to Nussdorf and up to the Faschingalm Mountain Hut at 1,660 m a.s.l.
In the cold months of the year, usually a mantle of snow is covering the village, providing a great landscape for romantic winter walks or for a toboggan ride on the Naturfreundehütte toboggan run with family and friends. Only a few km away, the Bergbahnen Lienz lift facilities take you into the eponymous skiing area on Mt. Hochstein and Mt. Zettersfeld with its perfect slopes.
