Berwang, whose name derives from the words "Bär" (bear) and "Wang" (meadow), is a real natural treasure. Brand, Bichlbach, Kleinstockach, Gröben, Mitteregg and Rinnen are the localities that belong to Berwang. Some 1,200 plant species form the most varied fauna of the Western Alps. In the background of alpine flowers and conifers you can admire the majestic peaks of the Berwang Valley and of Mt. Heiterwand and Mt. Zugspitze (2,962 m a.s.l.).
However, the highlights in summer - besides the vast networks of hiking and MTB trails - are the Bärenarena forest pool and the alpine herb garden in Rinnen. In winter, the natural toboggan run starting from the Jägerhaus Hut takes you directly into the village. It is easily accessible by the Sunjet Lift. Likewise in the mountains there's the Skiarena Berwang-Bichlbach with its 36 km of slopes, whereas four cross-country ski trails snake their way through the valley.
A special highlight is the highest located brewery of Austria in the component locality of Rinnen, the Stadlbräu. This is where natural cloudy and cask-conditioned beer is brewed with natural mountain water. Daily guided tours and beer tastings for groups are available.
