Langkampfen

Langkampfen is an active village, thanks to its vast network of hiking trails, which is awarded with the “Tiroler Bergwegegütesiegel” seal

Altitude: 504 m a.s.l.

Six component localities form the village of Langkampfen, located at the sunny side of the Inn river. It offers a fantastic view on the Kaiser Mountains. In the municipal area, there's the Kufstein-Langkampfen airfield for gliders. From the Fliegerstüberl tavern you can watch them flying.

Part of Langkampfen is also Lake Stimmersee below Mt. Pendling. In summer, it is a popular lake for swimming, which can be surrounded in a pleasant walk. Further trails take you from the lake to the Dreibrunnenjoch saddle, to the village of Thiersee, or to the 1,563 m high Pendling. The asphalted track on the Inn riverside, however, is perfect for inline skating. In winter, Langkampfen and surroundings offer fantastic cross-country ski trails, the 2 km long natural toboggan run Windschnur, an ice skating rink and a small ski lift.

If you are interested in culture and architecture, then you might want to take a look at Schönwörth Castle, a reconstructed residential tower dating back to the 13th century. It is one of the oldest historic residences of Tyrol, but unfortunately it cannot be visited. What you can admire instead, are the prehistoric items, which were found and gathered along the former Roman Road. They are exhibited in the Thurnerhof, another residential tower dating back to Medieval times.
