At the foot of Mt. Hohe Salve there's the market town Hopfgarten im Brixental with its characteristic paved, narrow alleys. What is important here is hospitality, and for this reason the village was able to preserve its original rural character. Today, it is a popular holiday resort for those seeking for relaxation and calm, which is composed of 29 component localites.
Hopfgarten im Brixental is one of the largest municipalities of Tyrol. It offers several leisure time facilities - among them a beach volley court, tennis courts and a bowling hall. In late spring, the Salvenaland Hopfgarten opens its gates, a theme park with bathing lake and minigolf course, which attracts numerous visitors from near and afar during the warm months of the year. Furthermore, beautiful hikes through the Langer Grund area start, which lead to destination such as the Tiefental Mountain Hut at 1,445 m a.s.l. The hut can also be reached by mountain bike.
In winter, Hopfgarten im Brixental stands for skiing and snowboarding in the nearby SkiWorld Wilder Kaiser - Brixental, featuring 288 km of slopes. Moreover, the surroundings are ideal for ice skating, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and an adventure on the Kirchholz and Haagalm toboggan runs. The first one can be reached by cable car, the second one in a winter walk by foot. By the way: There's another Hopfgarten in East Tyrol, called Hopfgarten in Defereggen.
