The market town St. Johann in Tirol is located in a large basin of the Leukental valley, nestling in between Mt. Kitzbüheler Horn and Mt. Wilder Kaiser. Celts, Romans and Teutons were taking turns in this area close to Bavaria. Afterwards, it was considered to be the breadbasket of Tyrol.
St. Johann in Tirol became attractive as holiday resort in 1875, when it was connected to the international rail network. Today, you can reach it in a train ride of just a few hours from Vienna, Munich and Innsbruck. Among the offer regarding leisure time activities stand out the Panorama Bathing World St. Johann with its large indoor and outdoor area, and the Climbing Forest Hornpark on Mt. Harschbichl, comfortably reachable by cable car. Its Flying Fox course stays open also in winter, when the St. Johann in Tirol Skiing Area opens its doors here.
Are you more interested in culture? Then the Local Museum and the Gallery of St. Johann in Tirol introduce you to local history and to contemporary arts.
