26 quaint little hamlets form the municipality of Leutasch, which is located in the Olympic Region Seefeld in a high valley close to the border to Bavaria. This village is above all popular due to the typical "Lüftlmalerei", a handicraft method of wall-painting, which originally comes from Bavaria and Tyrol. This type of paintings involve a fresco-technique applied to freshly laid plaster.
The impressions created by the wonderful landscape in the surroundings - including the Wildmoos Nature Reserve, the Karwendel Alpine Park and the Wetterstein Mountains - ensure physical and mental relaxation and recreation. On 650 km of paths you can discover the region on foot or by mountain bike. A beautiful hike takes you into the Gaistal with its alpine pastures on the sunny side of the valley. An adventure for families, however, is the Leutasch Spirit Gorge, the reign of a ghost and his goblins. This Leutascher Geisterklamm includes two circular paths and a waterfall.
After an active day, you may relax in the Alpine Bath Leutasch with indoor pool, sauna world and rocky grotto. Or maybe you prefer some cultural inspiration? The Ganghofer Museum Leutasch is dedicated to the writer Ludwig Ganghofer, who spent most of his time in his summer house in the Gaistal valley. In winter, Leutasch features the Neuleutasch Ski LIft, which is part of the Olympic Region Seefeld Skiing Area with 44 km of ski slopes.
