St. Jakob in Defereggen is surrounded by a stunning alpine landscape. Due to its proximity to the High Tauern National Park, also the fauna is special: Golden eagle, black woodpecker, chamois, marmot, mountain cock and alpine mountain hare have their natural habitat here.
