Untertilliach is located in the beautiful Lesachtal valley, between the pilgrimage site Maria Luggau in Carinthia and the Tyrolean village of Obertilliach. Its small centre is characterised by a range of farmhouses, old inns and little chapels, surrounded by the majestic mountains of East Tyrol.
The breathtaking mountains will be the centre of your summer holidays: Peaks like Mt. Hochspitz and Mt. Reiterkarspitze - both more than 2,000 m high - offer perfect conditions for hikes. The unforgettable panoramic view on the Lienz Dolomites compensates for all the effort. Also the Kircher Pastures, which can be reached within a 2-hour walk from the village, are well worth a visit. Besides the wonderful landscape, the view down into the Lesachtal valley is a popular photo motif.
In winter, due to its high position the mountain village becomes a fairyland with snow flakes dancing round the ancient farmhouses. The famous Grenzlandloipe, a 25 km long cross-border cross-country ski track, connects the localities of Kartitsch, Obertilliach and Untertilliach with the Carinthian villages Maria Luggau e St. Lorenzen in the Lesachtal valley. Furthermore there are the Golzentipp toboggan run and the eponymous skiing area in the neighbouring Obertilliach.
