Maurach am Achensee is a component locality of Eben am Achensee and lies in the Achental valley, directly at the lakeside of beautiful Lake Achensee. With its famous Achensee shipping dating back to 1887, the Buchau beach where the water is very shallow, and the wellness offer of the Atoll Achensee, the "Sea of Tyrol" dominates the range of outdoor activities in summer.
No matter if land or air, lake or mountain - Maurach am Achensee offers innumerable possibilities to be active in every season of the year. The cycle path to Pertisau and the "Road of Songs" follow the shore of the lake and lead you past the Lake Achensee Museum World. With some luck, along the way you can see and hear the Lake Achensee Railway, the oldest cogwheel steam locomotives of Austria, which every summer pant along 7 km from Jenbach to the lakeside.
In the village there's also the valley station of the Rofan Cable Car. It takes up to 1,840 m a.s.l., where several hiking paths start. The Rofan Mountains are a great place to fly: The SkyGlider AirRofan on the mountain station offers a special flight adventure, and nearby there's the take-off spot for paragliders, a meadow with a breathtaking view on Lake Achensee. In winter, the area turns into the Rofan Skiing Area featuring 11 km of ski slopes and a 1.5 km long toboggan run.
