Austrian Motorway Vignette: costs, validity, information, and an exception for Tyrol
Austria's motorway and expressway network (over 2,000 km) requires a vignette (toll sticker), known in Austria as a "Pickerl". This sticker must be clearly visible, affixed to the inside of your windscreen. Only then is it valid. Physical vignettes are available for 10 days, two months, or a full year. You can buy them at petrol stations. A one-day vignette is also available online.
The vignette is secured with a two-dimensional hologram. For several years now, a digital vignette has also been available, purchasable from the beginning of November. Since November 21, 2024, the sea-green 2025 vignette has been on sale at over 6,000 points of sale in Austria and abroad.
It is valid from the 1st December 2024. The sunny-yellow 2024 vignette remains valid until 31 January 2025 inclusive. There is an exception in Tyrol: The section of the Inntal Motorway A12 between the national border near Kufstein and the Kufstein-Süd junction is toll-free.
