The pilgrimage site of Maria Waldrast, located above the Stubaital and Wipptal valleys, is ideal for a circular walk also in winter

Our starting point is the Koppeneck restaurant which we reach by the cable car of the Serles Skiing Area (from Mieders). We follow the marker "Maria Waldrast" which leads us to the pilgrimage destination, through the snow along comfortable paths. Beautiful views on Mt. Serles (2,717 m a.s.l.) and the Kalkkögel mountains at the northern side of the Stubaital valley accompany us. Arrived in Maria Waldrast we recommend a stop at the tavern of the monastery.
After our lunch break we carry on along the circular path "Gleinser Mähder". Here the view opens on the Alpine divide, the Tux Alps and later on the Innsbrucker Nordkette mountain range. Across larch meadows we reach the Ochsenhütte Hut at 1,582 m a.s.l., and from there it is not far anymore to come back to our starting point again.
