In the Lüsen Valley, immediately after the village of Juifenau, a parking space at the beginning of the forest road up to the Juifen Mountain Hut can be found. Through the snowy forest we walk uphill along the forest path (also sledge run). This forest road from the valley up to the mountain hut in winter is reserved for hikers and tobogganists.
In the upper section, the view across the Lüsen Valley becomes better and better. We pass the Jagdhütte (Hunting Lodge) and our destination is not that far anymore. The Juifen Mountain Hut (2,022 m a.s.l.) is located at the slope on a clearing and is a popular rest point. It offers delicious food and a gorgeous view on Mt. Zischgeles (3,004 m a.s.l.), Mt. Rietzer Griesskogel (2,884 m a.s.l.), Mt. Freihut (2,627 m a.s.l.) and the Lampsenspitze peak (2,875 m a.s.l.). And the best comes for last! A fantastic downhill run by sledge until the valley bottom.
