This ski tour leads us from Padaun in the Valsertal valley to a popular peak in the Tux Alps

The Vennspitze mountain is located in the Tux Alps and offers a unique view on the Tux and Stubai Alps, the Karwendel mountains and the Olperer, Schrammacher and Wolfendorn mountains. Starting point of this easy and quite popular ski tour is the last parking space in Padaun, above the Steckholzer inn in the back Valsertal valley, which branches near St. Jodok/Brennero from the Alta Valle Isarco valley (Wipptal). The already groomed path is not that steep and can also be managed by beginners. After the timber line the 2,390 m high Vennspitze is visible.
After a short steeper section we reach the wide cirque below the Padauner mountain and proceed further to the wide basin in the north of the Vennspitze. After several hairpins we reach the saddle between Vennspitze and Padauner mountain. From here we hike – first on skis and on foot after the ski depot – towards the highest point where we enjoy a fantastic panoramic view. Our downhill run takes place along the ascent route, the slopes even allow some varieties. Easy and much-used ski tour, only little exposed to avalanches. Please don't climb up through the forest but via the swathe, the area is a breeding area for wood grouse (watch the signs)!
