This mountain hike on the Stubai High Route leads us first to the Franz-Senn-Hütte mountain hut at 2,147 m a.s.l. and further to the 2,650 m high Lake Rinnensee, an idyllic place in the Stubai Alps

From the parking space at the Oberiss Mountain Hut we walk into the valley and then on the trail up the sunny slope in serpentines. Across the meadows of the Alpeiner Alp we continue to the Franz Senn Mountain Hut. The whole path is surrounded by an almost untouched natural landscape: forests, meadows and waterfalls, behind them the glaciers of the Stubai Alps.
After a break at the hut we walk towards Lake Rinnensee. The ascent to the lake via the Stubai High Route opens the view on the high mountains. After a longer section on the slope, the trail leads through a small wetland along the Rinnenkarbach stream up to the stony landscape, where Lake Rinnensee is located. The colour of the water and the reflection of the mountains in the lake make this lonely place at 2,650 m a.s.l. a special spot where nature can be felt in all its magic. Our descent down into the valley follows the same route.
