Our starting point is the parking space at the Nocker Mountain Hut in Innervals at the head of the Valsertal valley. We pass the Touristenrast tavern and walk along the forest road into the valley. It is a idyllic green valley, from the rocks little waterfalls cascade and in the background the peaks of Mt. Fussstein and Mt. Olperer are visible. The path ascends to 1,650 m a.s.l. and proceeds past the St. Valentine Chapel (Valentinskapelle) to the valley station of the cable car. Here the forest road ends, and we follow the trail with the no. 502 which proceeds uphill along the hill.
To our surprise the weather changes suddenly, clouds appear and first raindrops fall. Fortunately we are already at the Ochsenalm Hut (2,100 m a.s.l.) which is surrounded by a sea of alpine roses. The Geraer Mountain Hut (Geraer Hütte) is not far anymore. Just still on time we reach the hut and can wait the thunderstorm out in safety. For our way back we take the same route and enjoy once again the gorgeous almost untouched nature here at the main chain of the Alps.
