This easy mountain hike takes us to beautiful Lake Laserzsee in the Lienz Dolomites

From Tristach near Lienz the Lienzer Dolomitenstrasse Road (toll station) proceeds up until the parking space at Rauchkofel (1,600 m a.s.l.). There our hike starts. Within only 5 minutes we reach the Dolomite Mountain Hut (Dolomitenhütte) which offers a gorgeous panoramic view. The path starts as a flat gravel road and proceeds past the Instein Chapel where the steeper path branches off. We follow the markers to the Karlsbader Hütte Mountain Hut and carry on through the Laserztal valley up above the timber line.
The Karlsbad Mountain Hut is already visible. After about 2 hours walking time our destination is reached. We make a side trip to the near located Lake Laserzsee, a very special nature gem, and enjoy afterwards our rest at the Karlsbader Hütte Mountain Hut with a fantastic view. An alternative way back is the gravel road which is less steep and only slightly longer but more comfortable.
