This hike proceeds about 10 km directly on the eastern bank of the beautiful Lake Achensee

Starting point of our hike is Maurach am Achensee, which is located only few hundred metres away from the lake. Past picturesque farms we follow the foot path and arrive at the shipping pier Seespitz, where the real path around the lake starts. Here, the Lake Achensee Railway - the oldest steam cog railway of Europe (1889) - and the steamboats of the Lake Achensee Ferry and Cruise Company pass by, and here starts the Road of Songs (Strasse der Lieder).
We follow the theme trail until we pass the shipping pier Buchau. Here the Road of Songs ends, the first section of our hike. The route proceeds now along the lakeside promenade, which later becomes also accessible for cars (toll). But today nobody makes use of it and so we walk further undisturbed, admiring the sailors, surfers and divers. The path proceeds through a camp site and past the sailing school, finally we also have to walk next to the busy road for a short section until we reach the shipping pier Achenseehof and afterwards our final destination: Scholastika.
We decide to try the famous Achensee Shipping to come back to our starting point again. Who wants to hike the entire route round Lake Achensee - additional 13 km - has to take the small path until the farmed Gaisalm directly at the lake (sure footedness and head for heights required). The path proceeds further to Pertisau and along the lakeside road to Maurach am Achensee.
