Speck, cheese, schnapps and many more products and delicacies can be tasted in North and East Tyrol
Holidays in Tyrol are not only a good deed for body and soul, but also for your palate, since there is much to taste. Of course food produced by mountain farmers, such as various types of cheese (in the picture cheese "Spatzln" in Ischgl), are local delicacies. Bacon and ham of various types as well as game specialities are also a real treat for your palate.
Furthermore there are lot of drinks, such as beer of local production including the Zillertal Beer, schnapps from the Distillery Village of Stanz, one of the highest-located fruit-growing areas in Europe, or the popular Krautinger Rübenschnaps, a turnip schnapps. As dessert you may try Tyrolean "Kiachln" and Krapfen from the Zillertal valley, cherry cake and cheese strudel.
