A refreshing jump into the cool water is also a pleasure for your four-legged friend. We tell you, where this is possible
Tyrol is a country with plenty of beautiful lakes which often are also the final destination of a hike. Unfortunately the visit of dogs to several of them is not allowed, but we have found some, where it is permitted. Of course also here respect is the highest precept: If your dog is not annoying any other bathers and you as dogowner scoop the poop of your companion immediately, you and your dog will be welcome.
The municipality rules can change currently, so please inform yourself once again before you start your journey resp. before your booking. And now - let's jump!
-
Lake Reintaler, Kramsach: It is one of the warmest bathing lakes of Tyrol and one of the biggest in the Kramsach lakeland area. A circular path proceeds around the lake, dogs are allowed at the lake, but not to swim here.
-
Lake Achensee, the "Sea of Tyrol": The gorgeous Lake Achensee is the largest open-access lake of Tyrol. It is located between the Karwendel and Rofan mountain ranges. In several places also dogs are allowed to swim.
-
Lake Haldensee, Haller: The public beach is also accessible to dogs (if nobody feels disturbed).
-
Lake Obernberg, Obernberg am Brenner: This lake in the Stubai Alps is the destination of a beautiful hike throughout the seasons. Dogs are allowed to jump into the water, please pay attention in winter, a sledge run starts just at the lake.
-
Lake Heiterwang and Lake Plansee, Reutte: At the both open-access lakes near Reutte, connected by a tunnel, dogs are allowed. Please pay attention, that along the walking path dogs have to be leashed.
-
Lake Brennersee, Gries am Brenner: Lake Brennersee is located at an altitude of about 1,300 m a.s.l. Therefore its water stays quite cold also in summer. A beautiful walking tour can be combined with a visit to the green lake.
For hygienic reasons, dogs are not allowed in any public swimming pools.
