Both in summer and in winter, the hiking paradise Tyrol offers plenty of walking tours, which become an adventure also for your dog
Discover the Tyrolean alpine world together with your four-legged friend. You will experience unforgettable moments. So that it becomes a gorgeous experience for all involved, please pay attention to some easy rules of the game:
- Linen obligation:
Close to farm lands your dog must be kept on a lead. If you move in the vicinity of cattle herds it is of particular importance to keep your dog on a lead. Normally cows feel threatened by dogs. If the dog moreover runs free or barks at them, the defence instinct of the normally quite friendly animals is triggered and an unwelcome and also dangerous incident might occur. In some parts of Tyrol, the dog must be leashed on forest and hiking paths, also outside of the village.
Please inform yourself about the municipality rules. Especially if you don't know, how your dog reacts in a foreign environment, it is important for itself to be kept on a lead. Dogs with hunting instinct like to follow this or that scent. Hunters don't show any mercy with poaching dogs.
- Backpack packing list:
Responsible dog owners collect the excrements of their dogs also during the hike and always take water along for their four-legged friend. Don't forget the muzzle for potential cable car rides.
One more thing for a happy walking tour: please inform yourself about the details of the planned hike in advance. Steep sections, rocky path surfaces, bad weather and long distances can be too heavy also for your four-legged companion. Below you find several hiking suggestions, among them easy walks and demanding alpine tours. Take your choice!
