Innsbruck Christmas Market

Seven Christmas Markets in the heart of the Alpine City for “Christmas in the Mountains”

During Advent, Innsbruck transforms into a magical winter wonderland. Seven Christmas Markets invite you to stroll and enjoy the festive atmosphere between the end of November and Christmas Eve. From traditional handicrafts to Tyrolean specialities like Kiachln (fried pastries), Spatzln and mulled wine, there's something for everyone. Two of the markets, the one on Maria Theresien Road and the one on the Hungerburg castle, are even open until 6 January.

  • Christmas Market in the Old Town:
Beneath the Golden Roof (Goldenes Dachl), Innsbruck's landmark, you'll find the city's most traditional Christmas market - including a Christkindl workshop. 64 stalls offer handcrafted products, creative gift ideas, and, of course, culinary delights. The market, situated beneath a large natural Christmas tree, is a popular meeting place for Innsbruck locals.

  • Christmas Market at the Market Square:
Around 70 festively decorated stalls entice visitors with gift ideas, Christmas tree decorations, culinary treats, and warming mulled wine. While parents stroll through the market, children can enjoy the puppet theatre or take a ride on the carousel. The Christmas Market at the Market Square, called Marktplatz in German, is therefore ideal for families.

  • Christmas Market in the Maria Theresien Road:
Innsbruck's grand boulevard, named after Empress Maria Theresia, shines brightly during Advent. The market along the Maria-Theresien-Strasse captivates with sparkling lights, glassware, and crystals. The offerings expand each year: In 2024, a special market awaits you with festive treasures from five continents and culinary specialities from around the world.

  • Hungerburg Christmas Market:
High above the rooftops of Innsbruck, the market at the Hungerburg castle offers an unforgettable experience. Take the Hungerburg Funicular to reach the highest Christmas Market in the Alpine City and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of festively illuminated Innsbruck. The 10 stalls offer sweet treats and gift ideas.

  • Christmas Magic in Wilten:
At the Wiltener Platzl square, 10 stalls enchant with their special charm. Handcrafted jewellery, unique gift ideas, and regional and international specialities make this small Christmas Market, called "Wiltener Weihnachtszauber", a colourful experience. A varied children's programme also ensures that the youngest visitors are entertained.

  • St. Nikolaus Mountain Christmas:
On the left bank of the Inn River, in the St. Nikolaus district, several stalls transform Hans-Brenner-Platz into an atmospheric meeting place. Festive scents, special sounds, and perhaps a glass of mulled wine invite you to linger away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

  • Bergisel Imperial Christmas:
At the world-famous Bergisel Ski Jump, next to THE TYROL PANORAMA and the Museum of the Imperial Infantry, a special Christmas Market is set up with magnificent views. The "Kaiserweihnacht Bergisel" starts in mid-November and offers a varied programme of culinary delights, handicrafts, music, and singing over six weekends.
