Near Leutasch in the Olympic Region Seefeld, you can visit a very impressive canyon. What is so particular about this 75 metres deep Leutasch Spirit Gorge (Leutascher Geisterklamm) is its modern steel footbridge, as usually wooden footpaths and bridges are installed. In summer, it leads you the way high above the Leutascher Ache river and along the majestic rock faces.
The parking space and the gate to the legendary Spirit Gorge are located in the district of Schanz, close to the German border. This is also where the walk across the world of ghosts starts. It's an eerie place and a world of water and stone: In the Leutasch Spirit Gorge a ghost is up to mischief - here it lives together with gorge goblins and water dwarfs.
Three paths lead through this natural monument. The 3.2 km long Long Gorge Trail or Grosse Klammrunde is accompanied by the Gorge Spirit. The theme path, which was redesigned in 2023, offers exciting stories, lots of games and interesting facts (1.5 hours). Furthermore there are the 500 m long Short Gorge Trail, which can be done in 10 minutes, and the 200 m long Waterfall Trail at the exit of the Leutasch Spirit Gorge which ends at the 23 m high waterfall. If you want to continue your hike, you may arrive to the neighbouring Mittenwald along the Access Point Trail.
