Close to Leisach and Amlach, at about 700 m a.s.l., you can find the entrance of the Galitzen Gorge (Galitzenklamm). This impressive canyon was already opened up in the 19th century, when the visitors still had to admire the natural monument from little stairs and ladders. Today, however, you can comfortably glimpse into the canyon from trails stretching along the rock faces.
But the Galitzen Gorge has got much more to offer, as there is also a Water Experience Trail, a Water Play Area and a tavern. The theme trail provides useful information on animals living in this area and the century-old history of the stunning gorge. Until 2022, also the Galitzenklamm Climbing Park could be found here, but unfortunately it had to be closed and permanently removed due to bark beetle infestation.
However, still today sporting visitors can try the fixed rope routes leading through it gorge: the very difficult Via Ferrata Adrenaline, the Via Ferrata Dopamine with its "The Masochist", a partly overhanging cliff passage in level E, the 1.5 hours long Via Ferrata Endorphin (ascent C, descent A/B), the Via Ferrata Galitzenklamm, and the Family Via Ferrata, suitable for kids from 10 years.
