At the foot of Mt. Schleinitz, a 2,904 m high peak in the Schober Group, the Neualpl Lakeland is located, two big and several smaller lakes in a typical basin. Among them there are Lake Nussdorf (Nussdorfer See), which has a little island, and Lake Thurn (Thurner See) with its rocky bank.
The surrounding peaks are reflected in the clear waters. Besides the Neualplseen, there are two more lakes in this region: the Alkuser See in the north-west, one of the most beautiful lakes of the Schober Group, and Lake Trelebitsch at 2,336 m a.s.l., a little mountain lake.
Starting at the Zettersfeld mountain station, the path proceeds in 2 hours to the Neualpl Lakes - or in one hour, if you take also the Steinermandl Chairlift to 2,214 m a.s.l. The view is unforgettable, from the impressive Lienz Dolomites in the south to the mighty Glockner Massif in the north.
