Besides Lake Heiterwang and the Plansee, Lake Uri is the third lake in the surroundings of Reutte. Its waters are of excellent quality and reach the third and best level on the EU-scale. Due to the fact that the lake has no own affluent of run-off, the water level is continuously fluctuating.
In summer, the Urisee is a popular bathing lake with water temperatures up to 23 degrees C. At the lakeside, there are several places which are accessible for a small fee and can be used as lawns for sunbathing. Here you can enjoy swimming, rowing, sailing and windsurfing, as well as canoeing and kayaking. The lake is accessible on a road from the locality Mühl.
Also very popular is the lake with divers all year round. In summer, visibility is up to 20 metres. There are five different platforms, and in winter, Lake Uri offers ideal conditions for ice diving (the Urisee Dive Centre sells the permits). As regards walking, the lake is a beautiful starting point for mountain tours: One of them takes you in one hour to the Dürrenberger Mountain Hut, providing a great view on the nature park region Reutte. In winter, this trail turns into a toboggan run.
