Experience glacier skiing on three 3000-metre peaks in Sölden in the Oetztal valley: the famous BIG3

Sölden is the only ski resort in Austria with three peaks over 3,000 metres: the Gaislachkogl, the Tiefenbachkogl, and the Schwarze Schneide. The latter, at 3,367 metres, is Sölden's highest skiable peak, offering breathtaking views as far as the Dolomites in South Tyrol in Italy. A total of 144 kilometres of slopes await you in Sölden. Around 34 kilometres of these are located on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers. In autumn and spring, you can reach these via the Oetztal Glacier Road, the highest panoramic road in the Eastern Alps, and using eight of the 31 lifts.
These unique conditions make Sölden the ideal venue for the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup Opening, traditionally held on the Rettenbach Glacier. The Rettenbach Glacier is connected to the Tiefenbach Glacier by a spectacular ski tunnel. Austria's longest downhill run, at 15 kilometres, leads from the BIG3 platform to the base station of the Gaislachkogl Cable Car. For adrenaline junkies, the World Cup slope on the Rettenbach Glacier offers the steepest descent.
The new glacier test centre is also located there. Snowboarders will find ideal conditions in the Area 47 Snow Park at Giggijoch, with its fun slope. The BIG3 Rally takes you on a 50-kilometre ski circuit across all three 3000-metre peaks, covering a total of 10,000 vertical metres. Numerous ski huts invite you to stop for refreshments. Perhaps you recognise the ice Q lounge on the Gaislachkogl from the James Bond film "Spectre"? Nearby, you'll find the cinematic installation "007 Elements", a James Bond exhibition inside the mountain. The Oetztal Superskipass is valid here: That means that you can use ski passes for 3 days or more in all skiing areas in the Oetztal.

More information
Until five days before the valid date, the ski pass fees in the online shop are lower than on-site. The times indicated correspond to those of the Gaislachkogl Cable Car: During the winter season, it operates with the other lift facilities every day from the end of November to the end of April.
The glacier skiing area on the Rettenbach and Tiefenbach Glaciers stays open also from the end of September to the end of November and from the end of April to early May. In these times, the glacier road is accessible every day from 7.30 am to 4.30 pm (winter equipment needed).
Dates and opening times may vary depending on snow and weather conditions!
Autumn season start 2024 on September 27, winter season start 2024/25 on November 22.
