Zillertal Alps: skiing between Mayrhofen and the Hintertux Glacier, one of Tyrol’s five glaciers
Image gallery: Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000
The Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 connects the Hintertux Glacier with the Mayrhofen Cable Cars, the Eggalm mountain pasture, the Rastkogel mountain, and Finkenberg. Over 200 kilometres of pistes and more than 80 lifts await you in this Zillertal ski paradise. There are many ways to access the ski resort: in Mayrhofen with the Ahorn and Penken Cable Cars, in Tux with the well-known Glacier Bus, or in Finkenberg directly from the village with the Almbahn Cable Car.
The Mayrhofen Skiing Area combines the action-packed Penken mountain with the more leisurely Ahorn mountain. Families can have fun on the FunRide with the FamilyPark or carve down the wide Ahorn pistes. Those looking for speed and challenges are in the right place on the Penken. Here you'll also find one of Austria's best snow parks, the PenkenPark. Adventurous skiers can plunge down the Harakiri piste with an incredible 78% gradient - steeper than a ski jump ramp. The Pistenbock run and the winter hiking trail to the Birds of Prey Oasis offer further variety.
While other ski resorts close, the season continues much longer on the Hintertux Glacier. Here, a distinction is made between the winter skiing area (open from October to May) and the glacier skiing area (one-third of the pistes are also skiable in summer). The glacier is accessible to everyone: All cable cars are barrier-free. Years ago, it was recognised as the "Best Glacier Skiing Area in the World" and is now a popular training destination for athletes from across the globe. The Glacier Circuit gives you an overview of the entire area. Other highlights include the impressive Schwarze Pfanne valley descent, Luis' Glacier Flea Park and Nature's Ice Palace. The Zillertal Super Ski Pass is valid for the Ski & Glacier World Zillertal 3000 and the other Zillertal skiing areas.
