The market town Telfs is located in the Inn Valley, at the foot of the 2,662 m high Hohe Munde, a peak of the mighty Mieming Range. The 12 component localities make Telfs the third municipality of Tyrol in terms of size, after Innsbruck and Kufstein. For a long period of time, it was a centre of textile industry - today it is a charming holiday village in the surroundings of Innsbruck.
In summer, the hiking paths are completed by the sports offer in the town itself. There you find the "Telfer Bad", a family, children’s and sports pool with sauna world. Furthermore there are the Telfs Sports Centre with climbing wall, bowling alley, squash and more, the Birkenberg tennis facility as well as an 18-hole minigolf course. The trails take you into the surrounding mountain world: There's the Widdersberger Mountain Hut, where you can enjoy the good Tyrolean cuisine.
Would you like to know more about the history of Telfs? If true, we recommend you to visit the Carnival and Local Museum at the Noaflhaus building. In the Carnival period, every five years Telfs turns into the centre of a particular Carnival custom called "Schleicherlaufen". It is believed that it has already existed in 1571, since the second half of the 19th century it used to be performed in the way it is today. The custom is also part of the intangible cultural heritage.
