The Nature Park Zillertal Alps (Naturpark Zillertaler Alpen) represents the largest protective network in the Alps: In the south it borders on the Vedrette di Ries-Aurina Nature Park, in the east the nature park starts with the Zillergründl valley, and in the west it ends with the pristine Zamser Grund. The Zillertal Alps Nature Park is in the true sense of the word a high-mountain nature park, which extends from the 1,000 m a.s.l. of the mountaineering village of Ginzling to the 3,510 m high Mt. Hochfeiler. The nature park villages are Brandberg, Finkenberg and Mayrhofen.
A varied flora and fauna characterises the Zillertal Alps, with e.g. the crossed viper, the mountain sheep and the chamois, as well as cotton grass and globeflower. Really popular is the Berlin High Route (Berliner Höhenweg) which takes you through the nature park by overcoming 85 km of length and 6,600 m of altitude difference. Eight refuges offer the possibility of overnight stays. The active offer includes cycling, walking, mountain tours, climbing, and family hikes on theme trails - furthermore the modern nature park visitors' centre in Ginzling awaits you.
