The "Widumspfiste", one of the oldest buildings of Fügen, was first mentioned in 1150 AD. Today it houses the museum of local history (Museum in der Widumspfiste in Fügen) which takes you on a travel through time across the folklore and customs of the Zillertal valley. On display is also the history of the local associations and clubs, among them the traditional music band, the Schützen, and the firefighters, as well as old crafts such as cooper and hatter.
An area is dedicated to the "Zillertaler Nationalsänger", who brought the Christmas song "Silent Night" to the world. In the "Silent Night Corner" there are original documents and photographs. Part of this exhibition is also dedicated to the organ builder Karl Mauracher (1789-1844), who brought the popular Christmas song from Oberndorf near Salzburg, where it was written and composed, to Fügen in the Zillertal valley. For some years now, in the basement there has been an exhibition on mining, which illustrates the 600-year long mining history of the area.
In 2018/2019, however, "200 years of Silent Night" in connection with the decentralised state exhibition in Salzburg, Tyrol, Upper Austria and Bavaria was organized.
